Recently, there's been a lot of talk about growth driven design (GDD). What is it? How does it work? What is the process?
However, there hasn't been much talk about whether growth driven design is the right process for you and your business.
Here are five reasons why growth driven design might NOT be right for your business:
1. You Already Have More Business Than You Can Handle
Your website is already producing the results your business needs. Not every business wants or needs to grow, and it's ok to be satisfied with maintaining.
Pro Tip: If your website is currently bringing in all the leads you need, you may want to put the redesign on the back burner. Why risk breaking something that isn’t broken.
2. You Don’t Have the Time
Like everything in life that grows, growth driven design requires attention and a time commitment. If don't view your website as a priority and the thought of another meeting gets you running for an exit then don't commit. Your growth driven design team will require you to focus, make decisions and move quickly.
3. You're A Control Freak
When utilizing growth driven design, the idea is to launch your website quickly—usually within 30-60 days—and then continue to improve the site based on how visitors interact with it. Because of the rapid development, not everything can be done when you launch. If that bothers you, I’m sorry to tell you growth driven design is not for you.
4. You Know What Your Visitors Want
If you are pretty sure you know everything there is to know about your customers and you are meeting their needs. Congrats, no need for GDD stick with the site you have.
5. Your Website Already Looks Great.
Sometimes a website doesn't need to do anything other than look pretty to be successful. Although it’s tempting to jump on the bandwagon with the latest website trend, it’s not always the best decision. Trends can date your site which can have the opposite effect.
Pro Tip: Never chase trends.
It’s important to know what fits with your business needs and what doesn’t. Growth driven design is a powerful way to continually increase the effectiveness of your website—but it isn’t for everyone and that's ok.
